About this role

Job summary

The advertised post is for a full time Trust doctor in Medicine for Older People and Rehabilitation, although a part-time role of not less then 6 sessions per week will be considered. The post holder will provide medical cover for Cedar Ward at Petersfield Community Hospital, working along side the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care for the patients on that unit. Responsibilities will include: clerking new admissions including prescribing medications, assessing clinical deterioration and escalating as appropriate, participating in ward MDT meetings including goal setting and discharge planning, participating in audits and improvement work.

Though the core job is based on Cedar ward, the post holder may be required to cover absences within the other wards within the division (Gosport War Memorial, St Mary's Hospital, Summerlee).

This job is weekday, daytime cover only and does not include any on-call. SPA is offered pro-rata on a 8:1.5 ratio.

Senior support is provided through weekly consultant or consultant practitioner ward rounds. On days where a consultant is not present on site, support will be available by phone.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

Non-clinical

Education -

-You are encouraged to continue your clinical education whilst in this job. You will be supported to use SPA time to attend services where you can broaden your experience. You will be provided with an educational supervisor.

- External courses are supported with study leave and allowance where they have been identified and agreed through PDPs with your supervisor and agreed with the Head of Service for Inpatients.

Supervision -

-You will be supported in your post with induction and orientation so that you are familiar with your work and working environment.

-You will have a clinical supervisor who can support with clinical and non-clinical aspects of the post.

Service development -

-You will be important in providing clinical input into service development and quality improvement work on the inpatient rehabilitation wards.
