About this role

What We Do

At Leading Educators (LE), we know that excellent teaching is the most important driver of student success. The moment a student steps foot in the classroom, their opportunity to learn depends on how prepared their teacher is to translate complex content knowledge, standards, and their knowledge of that student into lessons that help them learn deeply and apply their thinking to the real world.

That’s a big lift, and it often happens alone. As a national nonprofit, we partner with school systems to overcome persistent instructional challenges, foster intentional collaboration and adult learning by design, and ignite new possibilities through systemic solutions at the intersection of teaching, talent, and technology.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with educators at every level of the education system to strengthen their instructional and leadership practices, bring a vision for excellent instruction to life with consistency, and ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Through direct support, strategic advising, innovation pilots, and best-in-class research, we help educators work toward a future where every student is ready to thrive. Learn more about our work at leadingeducators.org.

Internal Candidate Application Deadline: 9/8/2026

External Candidate Application Deadline: 9/11/2026

Position

As Leading Educators' senior technology leader, you will shape and execute the organization's technology vision and strategy in direct support of our mission to ensure every student succeeds in school and in life. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll provide strategic leadership across technology strategy, systems and security, AI governance, organizational technology adoption, and technology operations—driving decisions that enable educators to focus on what they do best: teaching.

This is a role of significant influence and impact. You won't just manage infrastructure; you'll architect the technology ecosystem that empowers our team to work shoulder-to-shoulder with school systems to overcome instructional challenges, foster collaboration, and ignite new possibilities at the intersection of teaching, talent, and technology. Every decision you make will ripple through our organization and ultimately support students' success.

Leading a small, talented technology team, you'll ensure that LE's technology investments are secure, scalable, sustainable, and—most importantly—effectively adopted across the organization. You'll build organizational capacity to translate technology investments into everyday practices that drive real results. This is an opportunity to lead with vision, mentor emerging talent, and demonstrate how strategic technology leadership advances educational excellence.

Do you have expertise in…

Developing and executing multi-year technology roadmaps that align IT strategy with organizational priorities, scalability, and long-term sustainability?

Leading technology transformation and modernization initiatives across complex organizations, including managing change, building adoption, and ensuring staff readiness?

Establishing governance frameworks and policies for responsible AI adoption, data protection, cybersecurity, and organizational risk management?

Managing technology vendors, budgets, and investments while maximizing value and ensuring quality service delivery?

Do you enjoy…

Translating complex technical concepts and strategic decisions into clear, compelling language for nontechnical leaders and stakeholders?

Building and developing high-performing teams, supporting professional growth, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability?

Bridges technical solutions with organizational strategy and culture, ensuring technology serves people, mission, and organizational priorities rather than the reverse.

Taking on strategic challenges that require both deep technical expertise and thoughtful change leadership?

If you've answered affirmatively to these questions and meet the following prerequisites, we urge you to seize this opportunity. This role calls for the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 10+ years of progressive experience in technology, IT, enterprise systems, digital transformation, or related areas

Demonstrated experience developing and executing technology strategy and multi-year roadmaps aligned with organizational priorities

Proven track record leading technology transformation, modernization, or systems change across an organization, including successful change management and adoption

Experience leading AI enablement, adoption, or governance within an organization, with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into responsible organizational use

Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection, enterprise systems, technology risk, and governance, with the ability to provide strategic oversight of these areas

Experience developing and governing organizational technology policies and standards, including responsible AI use, data governance, and technology risk

Experience overseeing technology vendors, external partners, technology investments, and budgets

Proven ability to manage IT teams with a track record of supporting professional development and driving performance

Travel Requirements

This is a remote position that requires limited travel.
