About this role

Job Title: Controls Technician / Master ElectricianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Controls Technician with Master Electrician credentials to support and maintain automated production systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, support and optimize automation equipment, program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and uptime. You will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams while mentoring apprentices and providing technical leadership on electrical and controls-related issues.Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems up to 480V to ensure safe and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment. • Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs using RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk platforms. • Diagnose electrical, controls, and automation-related equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions. • Analyze PLC logic, electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and control drawings to identify and resolve issues. • Support plant automation systems, including HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, instrumentation, and production equipment. • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment to reduce unplanned downtime. • Lead electrical troubleshooting efforts during equipment downtime events to quickly restore production. • Assist with installation, conduit routing, wiring, startup, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and automation projects. • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, equipment reliability, efficiency, and process optimization. • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, plant safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements. • Mentor maintenance technicians and apprentices, providing technical guidance on electrical and controls-related issues. • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, programming changes, electrical schematics, and maintenance activities. Essential Skills

• Active Master Electrician license with demonstrated industrial experience. • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills, specifically with Allen-Bradley platforms. • Proficiency with RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk software for PLC and HMI programming and support. • Extensive experience with industrial electrical systems, including high voltage and systems up to 480V. • Hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment supporting automated production equipment. • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, controls, and automation systems, including HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and motors. • Ability to read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and control drawings. • Experience with conduit installation, wiring, and electrical installation practices in an industrial setting. • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, plant safety standards, and GMP requirements. • Ability to lead and mentor apprentices and maintenance technicians on electrical and controls topics. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Journeyman-level industrial electrical experience in addition to Master Electrician credentials. • Experience with automation systems integration and optimization in a manufacturing environment. • Experience in commissioning, startup, and validation of new equipment and automation projects. • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, reliability, and process efficiency. • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance, engineering, and production teams. • Solid documentation skills for recording repairs, programming changes, and maintenance activities. Work EnvironmentThis is a first-shift position, generally working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with an average of approximately 45 hours per week. The role supports two manufacturing plants in the Holland area, requiring travel between facilities as needed. One weekend of work per month is typical to support production and maintenance needs. You will work in a fast-paced, industrial manufacturing environment with automated production systems, industrial electrical equipment up to 480V, and advanced controls technologies including Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and related instrumentation. The role involves hands-on work on the production floor, close collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams, and ongoing mentoring of apprentices in a plant setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holland, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
