About this role

We are partnering with a client of ours to identify an Interim Controller for a contract engagement expected to last through January. The team is looking to bring someone on board as soon as possible to allow for training and knowledge transfer before the current Controller goes out. Because this individual will be providing full coverage during the leave, the company is seeking someone who can commit to the entire duration of the assignment.This role serves as the lead Accounting and Finance professional for the facility and is responsible for overseeing month-end close, budgeting, financial reporting, capital project tracking, and inventory-related financial activities. The Controller partners closely with operations, maintenance, and inventory teams while also working with a centralized corporate accounting group. A CPA is preferred but not required, and experience in a distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-driven environment is highly preferred. The position is primarily onsite to start, with some flexibility available after onboarding. Target compensation is in the $65-$75/hour range, with flexibility based on experience.Job Description As a Financial Controller, you will serve as a key member of the finance team, overseeing the accounting and financial operations for a local facility. This role will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational analysis while partnering with leadership to support business objectives and drive financial performance. Responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting process and assist with ongoing forecasting activities. • Analyze financial results, key performance indicators, and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. • Monitor operating expenses and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and control costs. • Partner with operations and leadership teams to support inventory management and overall business performance. • Oversee capital expenditure tracking, approvals, and reporting. • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, reports, and supporting analyses. • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and financial reporting. • Develop financial models and forecasts to assist with planning and decision-making. • Provide financial insight and guidance to management and cross-functional teams. • Assist with internal and external audit requests and related documentation. • Collaborate with corporate finance and accounting teams on reporting requirements and special projects. Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. • 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or financial management experience. • Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, operations, or inventory-driven environments is preferred. • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting skills. • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Experience with SAP or similar systems is preferred. • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and reporting requirements. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and organization. • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
