Job Title: Material HandlerJob DescriptionThe Material Handler safely operates stand-up and sit-down forklifts to move, organize, and rotate materials in a food manufacturing warehouse, ensuring accurate, first-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory movement. This role uses computer systems, RF scanners, and basic office software to manage orders and shipments, while following strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and safety standards.Responsibilities
• Operate stand-up and sit-down forklift trucks to organize materials in the warehouse. • Use computers and tablets to print shipments and orders using the Mapics / SAP system. • Use Excel to create shipment and order placards and Outlook to email information and maintain clear communication. • Read and follow customer order requirements as shown on printed picklists, verifying items, lot numbers, and quantities for accuracy. • Use RF scanners to pick and allocate shipments according to proper FIFO procedures. • Build pallets to proper industry standards and stretch wrap them according to best practices to ensure products arrive without damage. • Report any inventory variances discovered during picking to the lead or supervisor and support resolution through cycle counts. • Follow trailer loading checklists and procedures when loading trailers, and double-check orders for accuracy before shipment. • Assist with warehouse sanitation and organization in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Essential Skills
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training in a warehouse or similar environment. • One year of experience operating both sit-down and stand-up forklift trucks. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, bills of lading, and other shipping documents. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
