We're looking for dedicated Catering Assistants to join our team at Sheffield Children's Hospital. You'll help deliver high-quality catering services to staff, visitors, and patients across our catering outlets.
Current opportunity
Permanent x 1 - 21 hours per week, working Mon- Thurs evenings 4pm - 8pm & Friday evening 3pm-8pm.
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Catering Manager, you will:
Clean and store utensils, equipment, and retail area items Present, and serve basic food and drink items (e.g., sandwiches and salads) Safely dispose of food waste while observing food hygiene standards Monitor and record temperature controls for food and drink storage Replenish and document food and drink stock in retail and vending areas Serve customers, including patients, families, colleagues, and visitors, while providing a welcoming and high-quality service Operate the till, processing and handling payments

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training Essential
Level 2 (GCSE or Functional Skills) qualification in Maths and English or equivalent experience Food hygiene certificate or to be completed during induction
Experience Essential
Experience of customer service or food preparation in a retail catering environment
Knowledge & Skills Essential
Knowledge of food hygiene requirements in a catering environment Knowledge of infection control procedures e.g. MRSA, Hand Hygiene, COSHH Able to manage different tasks, prioritising workload throughout the day Work effectively as part of a team and coordinate with different team members Computing skills, including the ability to use software relevant to the role e.g. till operation
