ESK Hours: Shift 1 - 7:45 am to 2:45 pm (Flex Lunch) Shift 2 - 9:30 am to 4:30 am to 3:30 pm (Flex Lunch)
EES Hours:
Shift 1 - 7:45 am to 2:45 pm (10:15 to 11:15 Lunch)
Shift 2 - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (12:30 to 1:30 Lunch)

Job Summary:
The before and afterschool monitors support the day-to-day delivery of the program by creating a safe, positive and engaging environment for children. Staff will work as a team to plan activities that support students' well-being and help the program run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
• Provide active supervision of children during all activities and transitions;
• Plan, organize and implement age appropriate program activities, games, arts & crafts and culturally-relevant activities;
• Provide a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for children and youth;
• Supervise children and ensure safety at all times;
• Demonstrate fair judgment and respond appropriately to student interactions and conflicts that may arise;
• Assist with program set-up, take-down and general housekeeping duties;
• Maintain a safe,clean and organized space;
• Delivery of breakfast program and assist with lunch program;
• Liaise with team lead for procurement of supplies/equipment for program activities;
• Lead by example and form positive relationships with students and program staff;
• Ensure the safety of students in the program by following proper safeguarding procedures;
• Document and report incidents to the supervisor;
• Help with registration, attendance tracking and conduct head counts regularly;
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, post secondary education, an asset
• Must have experience working with children and youth (for ex: school setting/daycare/summer camp/childcare)
• Ability to manage groups of children with diverse needs and interests
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English and Mi'kmaq.
• First Aid and WHMIS required or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Food handling certificate or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with students, school staff, and parents.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of program participants, parents/guardians and school staff
