Job Title: School Janitor (Night)
Reporting to: Lead Janitor
Employment status: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (6 hour work days)
Anticipated Start date: September 28, 2026
Job Summary:
The School Janitor (Night) is responsible for performing various janitorial tasks to ensure the administration offices and school facilities are maintained, clean, safe, and sanitary. The individual is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting areas in accordance with established practices and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Clean all assigned areas of the school in accordance with the established practices and standards;
• Inspect washrooms and gym locker rooms on a regular basis, ensuring they are always clean;
• Replenish toilet tissue, paper towel and soap as needed;
• Sweep and mop floors and stairways;
• Spot-clean floors and walls as necessary;
• Clean glass surfaces, windows, and washroom mirrors as necessary;
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers;
• Operate industrial cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse;
• Floor care duties such as stripping, waxing, and buffing;
• Report any breakdowns, damages, and acts of vandalism to the appropriate supervisor;
• Prepare and set up rooms for meetings and events and clean-up after the events;
• Ensure compliance with WHMIS and any other required legislation regarding chemical products;
• Assist teachers and administration in moving supplies, furniture, and equipment;
• Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Janitorial experience and training in commercial cleaning procedures
First Aid and WHMIS required
Highly motivated and ability to work independently
Ability to perform a range full range of cleaning and janitorial duties
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form
Willingness to work as part of a school support team
Salary: $ 34,019 - $40,621
