Learn more about our Vision, purpose, values - AngloGold Ashanti The Opportunity Reporting to the VP : Geotechnical Engineering , the Director Geotechnical Engineering – Open Pit k ey responsibilities include providing strategic and technical leadership across AGA’s global open pit mining assets, developing geotechnical engineering options and risk management solutions, leading specialist technical teams, providing expert mentorship across international business units, managing complex and competing project workstreams, and aligning engineering standards and strategies with broader corporate objectives. This position requires on -site presence with travel to the operations. Applicants should be prepared for international travel and working in Ghana, Guinea, Tanzania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, DRC, Egypt and the US in diverse and challenging operations. Accountabilities: Provide expert Open Pit Geotechnical leadership across AGA’s global assets, projects and strategic initiatives. Lead the development and implementation of geotechnical standards, systems and processes to effectively manage critical geotechnical risks. Provide specialist technical input into business plans, strategic plans, F ull A sset P otential analysis and integrated planning , identifying opportunities and value-adding options. Assure geotechnical designs and mine plans , identifying gaps and developing practical solutions and road maps to ensure compliance with agreed standards. Lead and develop geotechnical teams , providing coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to build capability across the organisation. Drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and innovation , including industry research, technology initiatives and the Geotechnical Community of Practice. To be considered, you will demonstrate: A post-graduate degree qualification in mining-related geotechnical engineering At least 15 years relevant geotechnical engineering experience in the mining industry Sound practical understanding of exploration, mine development and primary mining activities within the mining value chain Ability to take a one-to-two-year whole-of-business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the Company’s strategic priorities Strong track record of practical implementation of analytical tools and analysis. Demonstrated strategic and analytic thinking A capacity in financial decision making and Risk Management Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels within the organisation. The ability to obtain National Police Clearance. Have existing and ongoing valid Australian working rights (Mandatory).
