Lecturer/Sr Lecturer - Energy Commerce and Business Economics
Position Description: The Area of Energy Commerce and Business Economics in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Lecturer/Sr Lecturer position in Business Economics or Law and Economics, beginning Spring 2027. The selected faculty member will primarily teach asynchronous online sections of undergraduate business economics courses and may also teach other courses to support both the Online BBA program and the Area’s broader instructional needs, as deemed appropriate and aligned with the selected candidate's areas of expertise.
This position is primarily assigned to the online teaching of 8-week courses that are offered as part of five 8-week terms, scheduled throughout the year (two in the fall, two in the spring, and one in the summer) to provide better flexibility to non-traditional students who represent a significant part of the online student population at Texas Tech University. All courses in these 8-week terms are offered asynchronously. The chosen candidate may be asked to teach full-term online classes to meet the needs of the area and the college. While appointed to this position, you will accrue vacation and will report leave monthly following TTU’s Operating Policy 70.01 and TTU System Regulation 07.12. Major/Essential Functions: At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate level.
As a faculty member in the Area of Energy Commerce and Business Economics, you will be expected to: 1. Contribute to the teaching mission of the Area and College through high-quality asynchronous online instruction and course delivery. 2. Develop and maintain effective curriculum for online Business Economics courses and other related courses, as needed. 3. Support and engage students in the Online BBA program and other online course offerings. 4. Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts. 5. Provide commensurate service to the Area, College, University, and Online BBA program.
Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:1. College-level teaching experience in economics, law and economics, or closely related business discipline. Prior teaching experience as a graduate student is applicable. 2. Experience teaching asynchronous online courses at the college or university level. 3. Experience teaching Business Economics, Applied Business Economics, Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Business Law, or closely related courses. 4. Experience teaching or supporting non-traditional students, including adult learners and working professionals. 5. Experience developing, designing, or substantially revising asynchronous online courses. 6. A doctoral degree in economics or a terminal degree in a closely related field depending on the candidate’s primary teaching area.

About the College: The Rawls College of Business is AACSB accredited and offers a BBA degree with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information technology, management, marketing, and supply chain management. The Rawls College offers an Online BBA in General Business. Several formats of the MBA program are offered in full-time, weekend, and online modalities in Lubbock, the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Houston, and San Antonio. The College offers MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, and marketing research & analytics. A Ph.D. in business administration is offered with tracks in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. With a faculty of over 130, the college enrolls over 7,000 undergraduate and nearly 900 graduate students.
About the Department/School/Area: The Rawls College of Business Online BBA in General Business is designed for non-traditional students through an asynchronous online learning delivery. We are seeking candidates with a background in asynchronous teaching methods and experience working with non-traditional students, including adult learners and working professionals, among others. The chosen faculty will serve as a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer in the Area of Energy Commerce and Business Economics, with primary teaching responsibilities in the Online BBA program and additional opportunities to teach online courses offered by the Area.

Faculty Qualifications: A master's degree or other terminal degree in the fields of economics, law, or a closely related business discipline, obtained by the position start date.
