Summary
Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; boiler making; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
• Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
• Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
• Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.
• Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
• Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
• Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
• Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
• Maintain or repair specialized equipment or machinery located in cafeterias, offices, or factories.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
• Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
• Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
• Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
• Perform routine maintenance, install replacement parts, or reinforcing structural weaknesses to ensure optimal efficiency.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: Required Skills and Qualifications
These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
• Proven experience as assistant director or other similar position
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
• Experience using hand and electrical tools
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina and dexterity
• Ability to be covered under company insurance
• Valid Driver’s License
• High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
A Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
•Work may be conducted either inside or outside according to maintenance requests.
•Temperatures will be variable according to season and specific work site.
•Tasks may involve moderate to heavy physical labor.
•Walking, climbing, standing, sitting, and lifting are required.
Physical Requirements
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling 25/50/80 pounds regularly
• The ability to respond quickly to sounds
• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42”
• Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl throughout an 8-12-hours per day
• The ability to work in extreme weather
• The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
