Job Title: Production AssociateJob DescriptionThis role involves working as a production associate in an automotive glass manufacturing plant, supporting various departments to meet established production goals. You will operate equipment, perform visual quality checks, assist with assembly tasks, and package products for shipment while following safety and quality standards. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for the entire shift, and you will receive cross-training in multiple areas of the facility. Responsibilities • Work in an assigned production department and consistently meet production goals set by supervisors. • Operate manufacturing machines and equipment safely and efficiently as part of the production process. • Perform visual inspection of glass products to identify and remove items with defects or quality issues. • Carry out assembly tasks on an assembly line, contributing to different stages of the manufacturing process. • Package glass products securely and accurately to prepare them for shipment, following packing and labeling requirements. • Use basic hand tools such as tape measures, Allen wrenches, and screwdrivers when needed for production tasks. • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while lifting, standing, bending, and performing other physical job duties. • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safe operations. • Participate in cross-training across different departments to support coverage and learn multiple roles within the plant. • Adapt to changes in department assignments, tasks, and shifts based on production needs. • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to report issues, follow instructions, and support continuous improvement. • Handle glass products carefully to prevent damage and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the process. Essential Skills • High school diploma or GED required. • At least 1 year of work experience in any environment. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. • Ability to stand for the entire shift and perform frequent bending and physical tasks. • Comfort working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or production environment. • Ability to work on an assembly line and perform repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently. • Experience or comfort with machine operation in a production or manufacturing setting. • Basic experience with hand tools such as tape measures, Allen wrenches, and screwdrivers. • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn how equipment and processes work. • Attention to detail for visual inspection of glass and identification of defects. • Reliability and consistency in attendance and meeting work commitments. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety and quality procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in general labor, construction labor, or similar physically demanding roles is highly beneficial. • Prior manufacturing or production experience is helpful but not required, as training is provided. • Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple departments and learn different roles within the plant. • Ability to work effectively in a union environment and collaborate with a diverse production team. • Comfort working with glass products and in an industrial setting. • Openness to shift changes and schedule adjustments based on plant needs. • Strong work ethic and motivation to grow into more advanced roles over time. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an automotive glass manufacturing facility with a union environment (UAW). All current openings are on second shift, running from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be flexible with their work schedule, as they may be reassigned or bumped to different shifts depending on production needs. Fabrication departments operate 8-hour shifts five days a week, with first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and third shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The Float department, where glass is made, runs two 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3-3 schedule, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with continuous standing, lifting, and handling of glass products, and requires adherence to plant safety guidelines and appropriate industrial attire. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.14 - $19.14/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
