Sheet Metal Mechanic Position $32.00/Hour + $140/Day Per Diem 📍 Location: Newport News Shipbuilding, Virginia We are seeking experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics to support shipbuilding and repair operations in Newport News, VA. This position offers $32/hour plus $140/day per diem.Responsibilities
• Install foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture according to engineering drawings and specifications. • Perform sheet metal fabrication, including cutting, forming, and assembling metal components. • Read and interpret ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, sketches, weld symbols, material specifications, datum points, and reference lines. • Accurately use fractional and decimal measurements to ensure proper fit-up and fabrication. • Lay out and fabricate piece parts to required dimensions and specifications. • Assemble fabricated components into completed units while maintaining quality standards. • Operate hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, and rivet guns. • Utilize shop equipment such as drill presses and press brakes. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Groton, CT. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
