Job Title: Plumber Journeyperson – Water & Wastewater Treatment ProjectsJob DescriptionThis role focuses on commercial plumbing within water and wastewater treatment plant build-outs. Under the direction of the Mechanical Superintendent, you install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex piping and plumbing systems on large heavy-construction sites. You apply your knowledge of construction practices, procedures, tools, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety to deliver high-quality, reliable installations on major infrastructure projects.Responsibilities
• Install 6" and 10" PVC SDR 35 storm sewer piping in accordance with project specifications and standards. • Work with cast iron, copper, and boiler installations, ensuring proper assembly, alignment, and secure connections. • Cut, thread, and shape pipe to precise specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, and benders. • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints. • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, visual observation, and other approved methods. • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading to ensure accurate dimensions and proper fit. • Lay out full-scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment based on blueprints and technical drawings. • Plan pipe system layouts, installations, and repairs according to specifications, site conditions, and project requirements. • Select appropriate pipe sizes, types, supports, hangers, and related materials, including hydraulic components, according to engineering and specification requirements. • Cut and bore holes in structures such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains prior to pipe installation using hand and power tools, while maintaining structural integrity. • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment using hand and power tools and following specifications. • Remove and replace worn or defective components to ensure reliable operation of plumbing and piping systems. • Inspect work sites for obstructions and confirm that drilling or cutting will not compromise structural strength. • Work independently to complete assigned tasks reliably and efficiently, coordinating with the Mechanical Superintendent and site team as needed. • Apply workplace safety practices, including safe lifting and handling procedures, and comply with all site safety policies. • Use hoisting and rigging skills when required to safely move and position large-bore piping and related materials. • Contribute to large construction projects involving water and wastewater systems, ensuring quality control and adherence to project timelines. Essential Skills
• Certified Plumber (Journeyperson) with a valid 306 plumbing ticket. • 3+ years of plumbing experience, including commercial or industrial work. • Pipefitting skills for 2" to 20" piping, including layout, assembly, and installation. • Experience with large-bore PVC piping, particularly for storm sewer and site services applications. • Demonstrated ability to work on heavy construction projects, preferably involving water or wastewater treatment facilities. • Proficiency in using hand and power tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, benders, and testing equipment. • Strong understanding of workplace safety, including safe lifting, handling, and equipment operation procedures. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and full-scale layout drawings for piping systems. • Capability to work independently, reliably, and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment. • Valid WHMIS certification. • Valid Elevated Work Platform certification. • Valid Working at Heights certification. The schedule runs from Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., offering a consistent daytime shift. The environment involves heavy construction activities, coordination with multiple trades, and the use of hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and elevated work platforms. Site work includes exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction zones, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to all site rules and regulations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Grenville, ON. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
