Job Title: FabricatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on fabricating high-quality structural steel components in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. You will work as part of a collaborative team that supports projects across the nation, contributing to inspiring and complex builds while maintaining a strong commitment to customer service and product quality. Responsibilities • Interpret structural steel shop drawings and blueprints in accordance with AWS standards. • Accurately lay out and fit structural steel parts using basic hand tools and a tape measure. • Work within defined shop tolerances and adhere to relevant code requirements. • Interpret Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and apply them correctly in daily work. • Perform basic tacking and MIG welding as required for assembly and production tasks. • Heat straighten and flame cut steel components using oxy/fuel torches. • Cut steel materials using plasma cutting equipment with precision and safety. • Set up welding machines, including replacing rollers, welding leads, and regulators, and adjusting amperage and voltage to properly tune the welder. • Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, needle scalers, and basic MIG welding equipment. • Safely use ladders and lifts as needed and perform work that may involve climbing, standing, stooping, and kneeling. • Lift and move materials, including occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and follow all safety procedures when using fabrication tools and shop equipment. Essential Skills • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural steel shop drawings. • Ability to interpret AWS welding symbols and WPS requirements. • Experience with structural steel fit-up and layout, including accurate measuring, laying out, and fitting parts before welding. • Proficiency with MIG welding and tack welding for assembly and production work. • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and apply fabrication math within required tolerances. • Experience using oxy-fuel torches for cutting and heat straightening steel components. • Experience operating plasma cutting equipment for precise cutting of steel materials. • Ability to safely operate fabrication tools and shop equipment, including grinders, welding machines, and needle scalers. • Understanding of shop tolerances, code requirements, and weld symbols relevant to structural steel fabrication. Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a busy fabrication shop supporting projects nationwide, with a strong focus on teamwork, safety, and quality. You will regularly work with structural steel using equipment such as welding machines, grinders, plasma cutters, oxy/fuel torches, and needle scalers. The role involves occasional use of ladders and lifts and requires comfort with physical activities including climbing, standing, stooping, and kneeling. You must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The setting is fast-paced and production-driven, where adherence to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment are essential. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tangent, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.50 - $34.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
