What You'll Do

• Identify new opportunities for BCG thought leadership, comment and spokespeople aligned to the current news agenda • Develop external communications plans and upstream media strategies for BCG’s most important business and commercial priorities (campaigns, BCG Practice Areas, markets) • Build relationships with both outlets and BCG experts who are relevant for most commercially important BCG Practice Areas, major global campaigns and priority markets assigned to role • Create toolkits, media assets (pitch notes, talking points, social media copy) • Be responsible for hands-on media relations work in the key markets assigned to role • Amplify topics related to assigned responsibilities across channels (e.g., events, social media, paid) and partner with channel leads to find innovative and effective approaches to land BCG content and insight • Act as strategic advisor to BCG Practice Area and regional/market leadership on their external profiles, high-priority communications topics, or sensitive issues • Develop and execute media training for BCG leaders • Manage assigned Global Media Relations Team members • Take on leadership role/partner with reputation management and/or crisis response team for any crises occurring within managed team scope • Help define implications of analytics insights and embed data-driven initiatives into media strategy • Oversee and manage agency support (including account strategy) for respective areas of responsibility • Lead the development and adoption of GenAI and other new technologies in the Global External Affairs team to drive greater impact and performance improvements

What You'll Bring

• 10-12+ years demonstrated experience shaping media strategy for major brands, markets or portfolios • Proven management experience including performance management and team development • Experience in developing and delivering successful and measurable B2B media and communication strategies for portfolios, regions or enterprise-level priorities • Ability to align content ideation with commercial objectives and media outcomes • Experience in writing for a major outlet preferred • Deep, senior-level media relationships with top-tier outlets • Experience in harnessing new technologies to drive communications innovation and performance • Experience in managing and mentoring media professionals or agency partners for portfolios, regions or enterprise-level priorities

As part of BCG’s Global Communications team, the Global External Affairs team’s mandate is to shape and amplify BCG’s global reputation through high-impact media engagement, crafting compelling content, planning focused media outreach and supporting local market activation. The Global Media Relations Director role is focused on BCG’s commercial priorities, campaigns and local markets, as well as managing the medium-sized Global Media Relations Team. This position directly reports to the head of Global External Affairs and requires close collaboration with teams across Marketing & Communications, including BCG Practice Area Leads, market representatives, Global Campaign Team, Editorial team, and others. The Global Media Relations Director will work in partnership with channel leads (e.g., social media and paid media) to promote and amplify BCG’s most strategically and commercially important content across global markets. A significant part of the Global Media Relations Director’s time will be devoted to hands-on media relations support for the key markets assigned to the role. At BCG, our people and relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that in-person collaboration plays an important role in our culture, mentorship, and professional development. For this role, you will generally be expected to work from a BCG office or in person with clients on a regular basis (typically around 50% of working time), depending on business needs and in line with local policies and practices.
