One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. To be hired at the GS-08 grade level: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07 if applying at the GS-08 level) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience at GS-08 is defined as: maintaining ledgers, reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers, and preparation of required reports and analysis of accounting information to ensure proper maintenance of ledgers and records, trial balances, reconciliations, adjustments, and corrective actions; working with a variety of accounting and financial automated systems; and providing professional advice, assistance, and information to customers and co-workers. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Major DutiesSupervises and directs functions responsible for providing financial operations travel support to active duty military and civilian personnel, retiring active duty soldiers, and reserve military personnel.Responds to customers and subordinates regarding travel claims, discrepancies, and procedures.Researches complex problems covering all aspects of processing or technical travel transactions.Trains and assists lower level accounting technicians with techniques to correct and process accounting inputs.Interprets regulations, requirements, and policies, including changes, updates, and automated systems modifications, to ensure compliance.
