Job SummaryAbout the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This is a permanent position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must clearly show one year of specialized experience which includes: Providing administrative support to a reception-administration control desk; Questioning applicants to obtain and/or verify that data required for final data processing of forms/records is complete; Performing records management of electronic and paper applicant records; Entering data into automated system(s) to record applicant processing information; and Assigning workload among employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-05). Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting the above qualifications, applicants will need to self-certify their typing proficiency. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major DutiesDistribute workload among employees in a timely manner.Provide technical guidance and training for employees.Prepare travel orders and reviews accounting data for accuracy.Administer pre-oath briefings, and briefs applicants concerning MEPS procedures.Operate a keyboard to record transcribe alpha numeric data.Obtain fingerprints using automated systems.Reviews for quality control of applicant records.Question applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms and records for entry into military service.
