QualificationsTo qualify for the Stationary Engineer, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, Job Element #1 to be considered for this position. Ability to do the work of a Stationary Engineer without more than normal supervision. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties, which are: Operation and understanding (at the journeyman level), of a chiller plant and its auxiliary equipment, accompanied with Universal Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) certificates. Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems-including air conditioning, refrigeration, venting, and heating-as well as pneumatic control valve equipment, at a journeyman level with minimal supervision; AND Knowledge in high voltage switching operations/electrical switch gears. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
Major DutiesOperate 13,200-volt A.C. switchgear for ten secondary switchboards and related feeders and transformers.Operate, service, clean, and adjust stationary industrial systems equipment.Install, design, and service pneumatic and/or electric control systems for ventilating, heating, and cooling.Clean and repair batteries, cables, and charging connectors.
