Job SummaryThis job opportunity is for an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST, position description D1257000, within the SMMO of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The purpose of this position is to provide instruction and assistance to state unit personnel regarding Army National Guard (ARNG) equipment and maintenance management.
QualificationsGeneral Experience: Knowledge of standard shop terminology Mechanical principles relating to equipment Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications Repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment Using computer and automation systems Specialized Experience: Must have 24 months of the following experience(s): Applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design Using tools and test equipment Developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques
Major DutiesAs an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST, GS-1670-9, you will: Serve as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment. Provide instruction and assistance regarding equipment maintenance procedures, techniques, and methods as a part of the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT). Provide advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. Evaluate directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel.RequirementsAreas of Consideration: All T32 NEW JERSEY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency.
