Specialized Experience at the GS-7: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-5) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience at the GS-07 level is defined as: applying financial laws, principles, systems, policies, methods, and practices to provide routine technical guidance to managers, employees and/or customers; gathering data from financial systems; and researching financial policies and laws to resolve common financial issues. Specialized Experience at the GS-9: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-7) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience at the GS-09 level is defined as: researching and interpreting financial regulations, policies and laws to provide substantive recommendations and advice to managers; analyzing and evaluating reports and data from financial systems to identify issues and discrepancies; and researching and interpreting financial policies and laws to resolve financial issues. Specialized Experience at the GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the federal service reviewing procedures and recommending process improvements and monitoring/evaluating systems access requests while ensuring internal controls of financial systems. Specialized experience at the GS-11 level is defined as: performing in-depth analysis and extensive evaluation of financial management procedures, policies, internal controls, and regulations to ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of finance and accounting operations. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Major DutiesAnalyzes, plans, and evaluates directorate functions to determine validity, propriety, accuracy, and adequacy of work processes.Examines a wide variety of documents, records, and related reports, and processes, to determine whether performance has been in accordance with GAO procedures and appropriate regulations.Reviews and analyzes a variety of reports received from internal and external sources, including reports produced by automated systems.Analyzes and evaluates review or examination findings, and develops formalized reports to include recommendations and identification of suggested changes.Interprets applicable guidelines and regulations to assist in implementation of approved and directed internal procedural changes to accomplish financial management objectives.The duties, described above, represent the major duties performed at the GS-11 level. The duties performed for developmental positions will be of limited scope and complexity to develop skills, proficiency, and work experience.
