As Head of the Department of Biomedical Data Sciences (BDS), you will lead a department in which research, education and innovation reinforce one another. You will connect people, disciplines and strategic ambitions within the LUMC and beyond. In doing so, you will further strengthen the department's international position in biomedical data science and create an environment in which collaboration and scientific excellence are at the heart of everything we do. About your role You will provide strategic and academic leadership to the Department of Biomedical Data Sciences (BDS) and set its direction within a rapidly evolving data science landscape. You will be responsible for the department's strategy in the areas of research, research support, education and valorisation. You will promote interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven healthcare. You will also connect the four BDS sections and strengthen collaboration with internal and external partners in order to further develop the department's position. Your key responsibilities will include: - Developing and implementing the department's strategic direction in research, research support, education and valorisation. - Connecting the four BDS sections and promoting collaboration within the LUMC, the Leiden Bio Science Park, and with national and international partners. - Advancing innovation and interdisciplinary research, with a particular focus on AI and data-driven healthcare. - Strengthening the academic position and visibility of BDS within the national and international research community.
