About the role:

The Regional Financial Accountant – Americas is the resident finance role for Chrysos' operations across the Americas, currently comprising Chile and Suriname, with deployments scheduled in Peru, Mexico and Argentina in the short term and additional countries in the longer term. The role owns accurate, timely and compliant accounting for each entity in the region, partners with the Americas regional and global finance teams to deliver reporting and statutory obligations, and builds scalable finance processes ahead of each new country deployment.

What you will do:

Payable Invoice Management:

• Receive and verify invoices for goods and services rendered.

• Ensure that invoices are matched with purchase orders or contracts and resolve any discrepancies.

• Code invoices accurately according to company procedures.

Payment Processing:

• Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, wire transfers, or credit cards.

• Maintain a schedule of due dates and ensure payments are made timely to avoid late fees.

• Review and approve payment runs according to company policies.

Receivables management:

• Prepare monthly customer invoices

• Ensure invoices match internal reporting and contractual requirements

• Prepare ad hoc invoices as required

• Follow up customers for payments as required

Reconciliation:

• Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger on a regular basis.

• Ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.

• Bank Reconciliations

• Preparation of monthly and quarterly indirect taxes such as VAT

• Month-end and year-end closing procedures as assigned

• Ensure reconciliation to tracking documents maintained outside the finance system.

Vendor Relations:

• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payments, invoice status, and account discrepancies.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

• Resolve issues related to billing errors or payment disputes.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

• Maintain organized and accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.

• Ensure proper filing and retention of invoices and payment records for audit purposes.

Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies regarding accounts payable.

• Assist with preparing and coordinating appropriate tax filings for entities across the region, working with external advisory firms in each jurisdiction

• Assist with preparing reports for internal management or external auditors as required.

Systems:

• Work with the Systems Accountant to implement and improve processes and systems

• Help develop and adapt processes to new era software tools such as AI

• Support finance readiness for new country deployments, including chart of accounts, statutory and indirect tax registration requirements, banking and payment setup

• Maintain consistent accounting practices and controls across all entities in the region, adapting to local statutory requirements

Who you are:

Essential

• Education: Associate’s or BA in accounting or finance or equivalent.

• Proven experience in full cycle accounting, 5+ years, including responsibility for multiple legal entities or jurisdictions.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

• Previous experience with PO processes.

• English and Spanish language skills required.

Desirable

• CA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent certification preferred.

• Experience supporting finance operations in multiple Latin American jurisdictions, or standing up finance processes in a new country.

• Portuguese, Dutch, French or other languages used in South America are an asset
