About this role
To support our further growth ambitions, Brantsandpatents is looking for a Patent Advisor or (partially qualified) European Patent Attorney with a background in chemistry, preferable organic chemistry. As a Patent Advisor, you will analyze the R&D activities and innovations of your clients and develop an appropriate IP strategy based on this analysis. Within the patent department, you will work with other patent engineers and patent paralegals. In this varied role, you will be responsible for mapping (technical) inventions, drafting patent applications, and managing and guiding the patent portfolios of clients. You will keep an eye on competing innovations and advise on potential conflicts when necessary. You will also proactively propose solutions. You will represent your clients before the Belgian Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office. You'll work from our office in Ghent. You have or are... A university degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or similar, with a strong preference for organic chemistry. A PhD in chemistry is a strong plus. Strong analytical skills and a results-oriented, quality-driven approach. A client-driven mindset. Fluent in Dutch with a good knowledge of English. Interest in legal principles and patent law. Willingness to invest in training to become a patent attorney.
