Vertragsart: Befristet Befristung: 31.08.2030 gemäß § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG Ihre Aufgaben: The PhD project at the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism will focus on bioinformatics and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in endocrinology. Potential research areas include thyroid hormone action in patients with rare and common diseases or identification of prognostic biomarkers in endocrine tumors such as thyroid, pituitary or neuroendocrine neoplasia. Depending on the specific project, the research will involve either computational analyses of clinical and patient-derived data using bioinformatics and AI approaches or experimental studies using tissue and animal models to investigate cell signaling, molecular biology, and immunobiology. All projects have a strong translational focus, aiming to bridge fundamental biological discoveries with clinically relevant applications in endocrine diseases. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the BIOME Graduate School, which provides outstanding opportunities for scientific training, professional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. You will present your research findings within the stimulating interdisciplinary environment of the Center of Endocrine Medicine, as well as at national and international conferences. Ihr Profil: We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who: - Holds a Master's degree (or equivalent Diploma) in bioinformatics, computer science, life sciences, biomedical sciences, or a related field (e.g., cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or medical biology). - Has a strong interest in pursuing a challenging and multidisciplinary PhD project with high clinical relevance. - Has experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, or AI applications (preferred, depending on educational background). - Experience with animal research is considered an advantage but is not essential. - Is team-oriented, highly motivated, well-organized, able to work independently, and possesses excellent written English skills Freuen Sie sich auf: - Admission to the interdisciplinary graduate program BIOME at the UME. - Einen sicheren Arbeitsplatz im öffentlichen Dienst des Landes NRW - Faire Bezahlung nach Tarif (TV-L) inkl.
