About this role

Description:

SAW, Inc. is seeking a reliable and skilled Non-Medical Transportation (NMT) Driver to join our team. The NMT Driver will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation services to adults with developmental disabilities who receive day program services. The Driver must ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain the vehicle in excellent condition.

Responsibilities:

• Provide supports and maintain client safety and well-being within the SAW, Inc. transportation vehicle.

• Provide safe and timely transportation to and from the SAW, Inc. facilities.

• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality.

• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while maintaining a clean driving record.

• Participate in ongoing trainings and certification to ensure that SAW, Inc. operates in accordance with established rules and regulations for the agency and all involved governing bodies.

• Maintain daily record keeping for NMT services.

• Report any possible major unusual incidents (MUI) in accordance with MUI reporting guidelines.

• Report any vehicle maintenance issues promptly to management.

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Valid Ohio driver's license with excellent driving record.

• DOT certification or ability to pass upon hire.

• Must be at least 21 years old.

• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening (random drug tests conducted).

• Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.

• Experience working with the DD population is a plus.

• Must demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Familiarity with technology and online learning platforms is required.

Current DOT Policy:

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has strict rules that prohibit marijuana use for employees in safety-sensitive positions. The NMT position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Marijuana is still classified as a Schedule I drug under federal law. Even if a state has legalized medical or recreational cannabis, DOT regulations still require THC testing under 49 CFR Part 40. This means that state legalization of medical or recreational cannabis does not exempt employees from DOT drug testing or disciplinary action.

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (split shift). Hours may vary.

$18/hour
