As the Software Architect – Healthcare AI & Cloud Solutions, you will be responsible for developing Solution, Application, Performance and Enterprise architectures and designs for solutions that power EXL Health’s digital transformation in the U.S. healthcare market. This role blends product leadership, technology execution, and business alignment to drive enterprise value through large scale, data driven, cloud-first solutions that support payment integrity and data intelligence use cases. You will be the force behind building modular, intelligent, and scalable platforms that enhance claims accuracy, reduce cost, and unlock new revenue streams. • Develop new designs, architectures, best practices, templates, standards, guidelines, models in direct support of 1 and 5 year payer market strategy and business growth targets. • Create application and database architectures for optimal scaling, configurability, compliance and modular re-use in both cloud (Azure and AWS, Databricks, SqlServer) and on-prem (Windows, dotNET) platforms. • Incorporate the latest in AI LLM approaches to augment the productivity, quality and efficacy of transactional applications and blending of unstructured data with structured data. • Assess existing applications and databases for scalability. Develop solutions for performance bottlenecks and growth. • Evaluate new AppDev technologies. • Develop various POC’s for new applications, services and application components showcasing innovative approaches to scalable data architectures. • Evaluate business processes - manual and automated and recommend solutions for improved productivity, quality, flexibility, throughput. • Assist in business proposal development and presentation to management and customers. • Mentor, train and provide expert assistance to development teams. • Production Support - Level 3 as needed. • Assist in project planning and AGILE methodology implementation and daily planning and execution activities. • Act as the tech voice in executive meetings, cross-functional governance sessions, and client-facing solution presentations. • Programming: Python, Spark, SQL, dotNet, Web, real-time pipeline orchestration. Proficient in at least 2 other languages • Data base technologies: Databricks, SqlServer / Oracle / Postgress, columnar, distributed, graph, temporal, document, vector. ORM. HA and DR topologies. • ETL/ELT: pipelining tools, data quality. • Transactional: Streaming, high volume transactions and concurrency. • Document & Workflow Intelligence: OCR, unstructured data parsing, event-driven workflows • Analytics & Visualization: Power BI, Tableau, KPI-driven dashboards • Security & Compliance: HIPAA, SOC2, PII handling, auditability frameworks • DevOps & CI/CD: GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, automated deployment & testing pipelines • AI/ML: Familiarity with generative AI, Agentic AI, NLP, prompt engineering, LLM frameworks • OS: Windows and Linux • Cloud Platforms: Azure (ADF, Databricks, ADLS, Synapse), API architecture, microservices. AWS experience is a plus
Required Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience in software technology • 5+ years in a senior product/platform leadership capacity • Prior experience launching 2 or more successful long running enterprise-scale platforms in a regulated, data-intensive industry • Bachelor’s in computer science Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s in computer science and/or business management • Strong business and domain acumen in U.S. healthcare systems • Strong command over U.S. healthcare payer domain—especially in claims processing, adjudication, and payment integrity • Regulatory familiarity: HIPAA, CMS audit requirements, healthcare data interoperability • Proven success building platforms that scale across large healthcare client portfolios • Experience modernizing legacy systems into modular, API-first, scalable platforms Professional Qualifications
