About this role

Job summary

A vacancy has become available for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work in the Medical Equipment Libraries at the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The libraries house a variety of medical devices that are loaned out around the trust for clinical use.

The post is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital but the successful applicant will be required to work on all the sites when required. A cross-city rota is in operation.

The post holders will be responding to requests from clinical staff for the loaning of medical devices and their collection from around the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Loaning, tracking, delivering and retrieving medical equipment from around the hospital sites. This will also require the use of electronic databases and spreadsheets.

This post will require the successful candidate to have a methodical approach with attention to detail which is vital to ensure the safe delivery of the Medical Equipment Library service.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a practical, logical aptitude with good communication skills and be able to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

About us

The Directorate of Medical Imaging & Medical Physics (MIMP) is the largest Service Directorate within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Medical Physics employs 135 staff (35 scientists and 100 technical staff) providing a variety of scientific and clinical services to the Trust.

The Department of Medical Physics is divided into 6 sections each managed by a Section Head responsible to the Scientific Director. The Clinical Engineering Section is divided into three groups - Medical Device Management (MDM), Medical Device Innovation (MDI) and Medical Device Healthcare Projects (MDHP)

Qualifications Essential

English and Maths GCSE grades 4-9 / C-A or O level grade C-A or CSE grade 1 Full UK Driving licence

Desirable

Manual Handling Training

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a stores or portering environment

Desirable

Experience of working within NHS hospitals on wards/departments especially with medical equipment Some experience of using Patient Management Systems within the NHS.
