About this role

Job summary

A full time opportunity has arisen for a Materials Management Assistant to join our team at the Royal Hallamshire hospital.

The post holder will assist in delivering an efficient and effective Materials Management, Receipt, and Distribution Service for OSCCA. Working closely with clinical teams, they will help ensure the timely availability of supplies and equipment, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and enabling clinical staff to maintain a greater focus on patients. Cross-site cover as required to meet service needs and ensure continuity of operations.

Main duties of the job

Support the provision of an efficient and effective Materials Management, Receipt and Distribution Service. Work closely with clinical teams to ensure the timely availability of stock, consumables, and equipment. Receive, inspect, record, store, and distribute goods across Theatres Undertake stock replenishment activities within stores and departmental areas. Maintain accurate records and complete all associated documentation. Use computer systems to record receipts, stock movements, and inventory information. Respond to enquiries from internal departments, suppliers, and external customers. Assist with stock checks, inventory control, and the investigation of stock discrepancies. Ensure stores, stock locations, and work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and organised condition. Adhere to Trust policies, procedures, and Health and Safety requirements at all times. Contribute to service efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide flexible cross-site cover in line with operational and service needs. Support the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring clinical areas have the supplies they need when required.

Qualifications Essential

English and Mathematics Qualification at GSCE Grade 4/C or equivalent qualification/experience IT experiences in Microsoft office Suite, particularly email/excel and spreadsheets NVQ 3 in Health Care Support or equivalent or be willing to work towards

Experience Essential

Theatre Supplies Experience Working knowledge of recognised Electronic Materials Management Systems including Web Basket and Electronic Demand Capture interface links within NHS Supply chain Application of stock control software and stock review including supply chain evaluations, including interpretation of RIU reports (Back up Reports Evidence of supporting the implementation of new products and change within the unit, led by BAND 3 Supervisors and Theatres Supplies Manager Motivated, Innovative, receptive to change Excellent Customer Care Services Skills Excellent communication and team working skills both written and verbal

Further Training Essential

Willing to undertake training as required which is specific to the post as identified through service delivery.

Special Skills/Aptitudes Essential

Monitor stock levels and report any anomalies to Supervisor, Theatre Supplies Manager Identify budgetary ordering and anomalies escalating accordingly to Supervisor, Theatre Supplies Manager and Theatre Lead Practitioner.
