As a PI T&C Technician, your main responsibilities will be : 1. Use power tools; extensive knowledge of socket sizes and open end wrenches 2. Measure accurately in U.S. and metric systems, convert measurements as needed3. Read electrical blueprints and schematics and comprehend work instructions. Use of portable station for train tests 4. Perform all duties required in dismantling, repairing, rebuilding, installing and testing all transit car electrical systems and components 5. Use and understand Operational Methods Standards 6. Must have working knowledge of electrical test and maintenance equipment under limited supervision 7. Operate/use tools such as crimping i.e. AMP crimpers/hydraulic crimpers/Veam crimpers for pins and plugs 8. Operate wire cutters/ strippers and mechanical tools for assembly of electrical parts with no defects 9. Read and compare wire lists and travelers related to specific work assignment and accurately report discrepancies to Supervisor 10. Demonstrate common sense at all times when completing daily work assignments 13. Interaction with co-workers, Workleaders, Supervisors, Managers on a daily basis 14. Inspect respective work area prior to end of shift to ensure neat and orderly appearance and materials in proper place 15. Cleaning of the train, station, and workspace daily 16. Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager17. Using a PC to troubleshoot the vehicles18. Using multimeter and various other testing tools to ensure vehicle operation19. Adapt to changing workload and shifts (including nights and weekends as required) Qualifications Electrical / Mechanical Technician Diploma, Degree, Certification. Experience as Electrical / Mechanical Technician Must have ability to read, write and follow procedures, always being conscious towards safety Must be able to manage time well, prioritizing and sequencing tasks Must be willing to be trained in more than one discipline of the rolling stock process to increase flexibility Competencies & Skills Autonomous Conscientious Workplace Health and Safety Standards WHMIS Training Daily reporting EROR Training Salary: This is a unionized site. The propationary starting rate is $27.75 CAD per hour. After probation, the rate increases to $30.83 CAD per hour. You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us.
