Live & Learn Environmental Education - Solomon Islands (LLSI) is an incorporated organisation registered under the Solomon Islands Charitable Trust Act. LLSI is a member of the Live & Learn Environmental Education Network, operating to improve locally-led climate resilience across the Asia and the Pacific, towards a sustainable, resilient and inclusive world.

Live & Learn’s works with communities to address climate change adaptation, environmental protection, disaster risk reduction and response, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene to eradicate poverty and create a fairer, more sustainable world. To achieve this, Live & Learn actively promotes gender equity, social inclusion, and the integration of Indigenous knowledge and local leadership in decision-making and program design.

We are now seeking an experienced, strategic and values‑driven Board members to guide the governance of Live & Learn Solomon Islands.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Solomon Islands leading charitable organisations. The LLSI Board has governance responsibilities, leads strategic decision-making, engagement with stakeholders and ensures compliance with relevant policies, legislation and standards to deliver high-quality, community‑driven development outcomes.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the long‑term resilience, wellbeing, and empowerment of communities across the Solomon Islands.

Term & Commitment

Appointment

Voluntary (meeting allowances provided); 2-years term, renewable under the organisation’s governance framework.

Commitment

Minimum of four Board meetings per year, with additional time for meeting preparation, committee engagements, consultations and representation duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Act honestly and in good faith for the best interests of the organisation.

• Act with reasonable care and diligence

• Not to misuse information or your position

• Avoid and disclose conflicts of interest

• Ensure the financial affairs of the organisation are managed responsibly

• Do not to allow the organisation to operate while insolvent

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrated leadership experience in governance, preferably in NGOs or community development.

• Understanding of Solomon Islands context and development priorities.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Strategic thinking and sound judgement.

• Commitment to Live & Learn values: responsiveness, accountability, transparency, respect, leadership, commitment, and representation.

• Experience in financial oversight, risk management, or public policy engagement will be highly regarded.
