RENAL, RESPIRATORY AND CARDIAC CMG

Health Care Assistant

Band 3

37.5 hours per week

Based at Kettering Dialysis Unit

We are looking for an enthusiastic well motivated Health Care Assistant to work in our Nurse led Haemodialysis Satellite Unit based in Kettering.

You must have experience working in the NHS and ideally hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent. Previous experience in renal / Haemodialysis is desirable but not essential, as training will be given. The team that you will be joining is dedicated to training and promoting your continuous professional development.

The successful candidate will be flexible, demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to personal and professional development and a desire to provide a high standard of care delivery to chronically ill patients.

The unit is open 24 hours Mon/Wed/Fri and 07:00-19:00 Tue/Thu/Sat. We close on Sundays.

Shifts times are

Early 07:00-15:00 or 07:00-18:00

Mid 11:00-19:00

Late 12:00-23:00 or 15:00-23:00 (Mon/wed/fri only)

Night 21:00-08:00 (Mon/wed/fri only)

Staff ideally need to be flexible across all shifts.

Main duties of the job

Caring for patients receiving Haemodialysis

Commencing and discontinuing Dialysis

Monitoring patients during Dialysis

Ensuring unit is well stocked

Maintaining a safe environment by ensuring equipment cleaned regularly.

Assisting Registered Nurses when needed.

Act as a effective member of the team

Job description Job responsibilities

The Health Care Assistant will be an integral member of the ward / department team working through close but not direct supervision of a registered practitioner.

The Health Care Assistant is responsible for providing personal and clinical care, undertaking clinical observations and other interventions as delegated by the registered practitioner and in accordance with existing competencies.

The Health Care Assistant will ensure that their practice is guided by standard operating procedures and established policies and guidelines. They will demonstrate self-directed development, recognising own limitations, and work within the scope of their role at all times.

The Health Care Assistant will act in a manner that upholds privacy, dignity, respect and confidentiality for patients and colleagues.
