Job summary
Balmore Park Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and dedicated team. Working as part of the nursing team, you will carry out treatment options and appropriate interventions and support the GP's in providing an excellent service to our patients. You should be willing to learn new skills, have excellent communication and IT skills; effective time management and prioritisation; be flexible in your approach and as comfortable working independently as in a multi disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse provides primary care nursing support, patient interventions and treatment within the Practice. As part of the general practice team, you will responsible for providing excellent patient-centred care
Undertake treatment options and carry out appropriate clinical interventions and procedures. Health screening, including Cervical Screening and NHS health checksHypertension, Diabetes and coronary heart disease managementWound care, ulcer care, removal of sutures and venepunctureECG's, Asthma Reviews, Peak flow readings & SpirometryAssisting GP's with minor surgery and coil fittings On-going health education and advice, including counselling to improve health and prevent disease. Provision of contraceptive advice and sexual health services. Delivery of immunisation programmes. On-going care and support for people with chronic conditions.Support/Manage common gynaecological investigations in our Well Woman ClinicSupport Nurse Manager and team with auditsHealth promotion to the practices enrolled population, linking to public health programmes at a national, regional and local level and utilising such programmes to target specific populations.
About us
Balmore Park Surgery is a supportive, highly regarded training practice, situated north of the River Thames in Caversham, Reading. The Practice consists of 14 GPs, 7 Nurses, 4 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a Mental Health Practitioner, 2 HCAs and 1 Phlebotomists. We also have 4 Pharmacists, a Pharmacy technician and a Prescriptions Clerk.
