The Team
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join American Tower’s U.S. Accounting team. The U.S. Accounting team properly records and reports the Company’s U.S. Tower division’s revenue and direct expenses for both the tower and managed networks businesses. The Accounting team also supports the operational teams by providing reporting over areas they are responsible for (including fixed assets, repairs and maintenance, and utilities), while ensuring adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies. Day to day activities include overseeing a team to ensure (a) monthly closes are completed in accordance with time and quality standards, (b) all activity is accurately captured in the subledger and captured correctly within the general ledger, (c) accrual accounting is recognized in line with internal accounting policies, (d) analyses needed for effective control over and understanding of the general ledger are developed and maintained, and (e) various internal stakeholders with an interest in financial results have access to information needed to complete their processes.
What You Can Offer Us
• Execute monthly accounting closes in accordance with the required time and quality standards. • Ensure all journals and adjustments are supported by underlying analyses and that group, standalone, and statutory financials with respect to revenue comply with internal accounting policies. • Partner with stakeholders to identify accounting issues arising from business transactions. • Build effective partnerships with other accounting teams as well as other internal stakeholder teams to ensure alignment. • Leverage systems tools to effectively improve reconciliations, processes, analyses, and reporting, as well as to identify process efficiencies within the designated areas of scope. • Implement Company-approved accounting policies, procedures, and controls over financial reporting. • Recruit and manage the performance and career development of Accountants, Senior Accountants, and Accounting Supervisors. Cultivate a collaborative team dynamic that enables us to meet our business objectives. • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Succeed
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. • Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance close environment preferred. • CPA and/or MBA preferred. • Approximately 15% travel may be required to support the position’s responsibilities. • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines. • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results. • Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results.
