About this role

Job summary

This post is a Fixed Term/Secondment for 10 months until 08/06/27 due to secondment cover.

If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager prior to application.

The post plays an integral part in the Operational Workforce team, providing generalist operational workforce advice to managers and staff, ensuring services are effectively supported. It is required to provide professional generalist workforce support, within the remit of policies and procedures, current employment law and generalist best practice.

The post holder will also provide support to the Workforce team and the different roles that comprise it, contributing to the delivery of the Department's objectives. This is an ideal opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team where you can apply and develop your knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

To take an active, operational role in working with managers across all services to proactively manage sickness absence. To support the Workforce Team with a variety of employee relations process including disciplinary and Respect and Resolution, including any associated investigations and hearings. To provide advice and support to line managers within the remit of Health Board policy and employment law. To advise on employment contracts, entitlements and national and local NHS terms and conditions. To develop an expertise in employment law and HR best practice. To support the Senior Workforce Team with specified project work as it may arise from time to time, including issues around national initiatives/ projects that may necessitate representing the Health Board with external bodies.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge Essential

Qualified to CIPD level 5 or willingness to study. Relevant degree or equivalent experience. Evidence of continuing professional development Up to date knowledge of employment law. Demonstrable IT skills including Microsoft suite of applications.

Desirable

An understanding of the NHS Terms and Conditions including Agenda for Change.

Experience Essential

Experience of working within HR or similar area of work. Experience of advising/supporting or managing sickness absence. Experience of supporting employee relations matters in the workplace. Experience of advising on HR policies and procedures and Terms and Conditions. Experience of creating positive working relationships with managers and colleagues.

Desirable

Experience of managing organisational change & advising on staff consultation. Experience of working in partnership with TU's in a Unionised environment.

Other Essential

Willingness to develop Welsh language skills in the role.
