The Company

Nigerdock is a leading Nigerian maritime and logistics company operating an integrated free zone and port terminals in Lagos. We provide clients with terminal operations, logistics, marine services, and free zone solutions.

The range of services offered includes procurement management, asset maintenance management, ship-building and repair, marine services, Terminal & logistics, and the associated base support services.

Nigerdock is strategically located in the Snake Island Integrated Free Zone and offers a fully integrated support service to the upstream oil and gas and broader energy sector.

The Role

• HSE Officer

Reporting To

• HSE Coordinator / HSE Manager

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with the HSE Coordinator / HSE Manager in the transformation program of developing and implementing the HSE business partnership program

• Update on a weekly basis hazard observation register.

• Provide site coverage and back up for divisional HSE officers.

• Inspects work site prior to work commencement and after work completion, that site remains in a safe state.

• Liaise with site management to ensure work methods and risk assessments are implemented.

• Implement a stop work if there are perceived OHS risks and address the hazards before allowing work to resume.

• Safety Officer will take responsibility for undertaking operation of OHS within areas as per the scope of work and work closely with the HSE Coordinator and report directly to the HSE Manager.

• The Safety Officer will be prepared to be involved at a grassroots level, whilst at the same time proactively identifying risk areas and ensuring safe working practices, the key objective of his position is to ensure improvement in OHS to reduce or eliminate accidents and to coordinate processes for implementing a best practice OHS system for the entire operations.

• Report all accidents and near misses promptly for timely and proper investigation.

• Prepare daily HSE reports for the HSE Coordinator and HSE Manager.

Requirements:

• Completed NISP General certificate, NISP Levels 1-3 or equivalent

• Possess/ preparing for NEBOSH IGC

• Minimum of National Diploma Holder or equivalent.
