About this role

Site Reliability Engineer

Reports to: Labs Team Lead

Looper Insights

Remote-first, with regular visits to our Byfleet and Hounslow data centres

The company

Looper Insights builds analytics products that help the world’s leading media and entertainment companies understand how their content is performing across digital platforms (Disney, Amazon Prime, & Ofcom, to name a few). We provide visibility into where content appears, how it’s placed, and how it performs - enabling smarter commercial decisions, operational efficiency, and better outcomes for our clients. We’re building systems that operate at scale across a fast-changing digital landscape, and quality is a critical part of that.

We’re at an exciting time in our journey, scaling the business with ambitious growth goals to establish our metric MPV as a currency in the market. With a supportive, flexible culture and a talented global team, we collaborate closely to produce a valuable service for an industry about which we are all passionate.

The role

We’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to keep the global LooperBox fleet running, the physical backbone behind every piece of data Looper Insights produces.

LooperBoxes sit in front of every connected TV device our clients care about: Samsung and LG smart TVs, PlayStation and Xbox, Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku, and the major set-top boxes. Every box you build, ship, install and keep healthy is a direct line to the measurement data that streaming platforms and studios rely on to understand how their content really performs on screen.

This is a hands-on role that blends hardware, networking and automation. You’ll build and ship LooperBoxes around the world, install and troubleshoot them, including on-site in our data centres, manage a global VPN estate spanning 28+ countries, and build the monitoring and automation that lets a fast-growing fleet (6-10 new devices a month) scale reliably rather than heroically. Alongside the day-to-day, you’ll get genuine R&D time: researching smarter ways to control devices, prototyping new scraping and navigation methods, and finding cost efficiencies across the fleet.

This role is remote-first. You’ll need to be able to travel to our data centres in Byfleet and Hounslow on a regular basis for hands-on installation and maintenance work, the rest of your time is yours to work remotely.

What you’ll do

• Build, ship and install new LooperBoxes connected to devices around the world, including hands-on installation work in our Byfleet and Hounslow data centres

• Support and maintain the existing fleet, keeping devices healthy and online as it scales

• Run remote installation calls with customers to install and troubleshoot LooperBoxes

• Install, manage and monitor VPN connections across 28+ countries

• Build and configure physical networking equipment, including rack and cable management

• Implement and improve monitoring systems across every stage of deployment

• Develop automation routines that reduce support load and get faster results to internal teams

• Research and prototype new ways to control devices more effectively and reliably

• Explore methods to retrieve store-front information from remote devices and stream video to LooperBoxes

• Build proofs of concept for navigation and scraping methods that improve scan speed and quality

• Investigate and prototype cost-saving measures across the fleet

What we’re looking for

• Proficient in at least one development or scripting language

• Strong network troubleshooting skills

• Comfortable working in the Unix CLI

• Experience troubleshooting physical device faults

• Solid system administration experience

• Experience with DevOps practices and automation

• Able to travel regularly to our Byfleet and Hounslow data centres for on-site work, with remote working for the rest of your time

Even better if

• Rack and cable management experience

• Network design experience

• Maker skills - you like building and fixing things with your hands

• Video processing experience (gstreamer)

• Exposure to AI and ML

• A degree in computing

What you’ll get

• 27 days holiday

• Annual paid day off for charity work

• Enhanced parental leave

• L&D support, including AI training & access to tools

• Flexible working environment - outcome over hours worked

• Payment towards health insurance

• Access to UK working locations (via the Reef app)

£45,000 - £55,000
