SOUTH LAKE SCHOOLS Building Aide – Koepsell Early Childhood Center Hours based on student needs Job Goal: To positively represent the school and district while supporting daily operations and fostering a safe, caring learning environment. Responsibilities include general building support and direct supervision of preschool-aged children. Qualifications:

• Must meet, or be able to meet, "Highly Qualified" standards as outlined by state and federal guidelines.

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

• Experience in a childcare setting preferred.

• Demonstrated proficiency in using email and Microsoft Word to support communication, documentation, and administrative tasks.

• Must submit to and be cleared through a federal background check.

• Evidence of current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.

• Ability to lift and/or move 10 to 40 pounds.

• Willingness to adhere to all GSRP and LARA licensing requirements, including, but not limited to, TB testing, initial and annual health and safety training, required professional development, and other licensing requirements.

Reports To: Early Childhood Center Director Duties & Responsibilities Include:

• Operate standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, and walkie-talkies. Serve as the school receptionist when needed by welcoming visitors, answering calls, and directing inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

• Attend and actively participate in required in-service training sessions to remain current with school procedures, safety protocols, and student support strategies.

• Provide appropriate first aid to students in accordance with school health guidelines and training.

• Support students with personal needs, including expressing concerns, locating lost items, and navigating school routines.

• Provide classroom supervision when teachers require break or release time, maintaining a structured and supportive learning environment.

• Assist students during lunch by opening packaged food items, pouring water, cleaning minor spills, and communicating larger spills to custodial staff.

• Assist in managing student discipline and behavioral needs by reinforcing school expectations and collaborating with staff to support student success and well-being.

• Help manage student safety and behavior in outdoor and common areas during arrival and dismissal times.

• Assist administrators and teachers with supervision, event setup, instructional support, and other logistical needs.

• Copy, laminate, cut, organize, and distribute instructional materials as assigned.

• Assist students with weather-appropriate dressing, hand washing, tying shoes, and other age-appropriate self-care tasks.

• Supervise students in restroom areas when monitoring gross motor play outside of the classroom while maintaining required staff-to-student ratios.

• When assigned to cover an absence in an ECSE classroom, assist students with bathrooming, hygiene needs, classroom transitions, opening snacks and drinks, and cleaning spills.

• Meet annual LARA and GSRP professional development and training requirements.

• Maintain a workplace free from alcohol and non-prescribed controlled substances in compliance with district policy.

• Comply with all Board policies and applicable federal and state laws, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and applicable nondiscrimination requirements.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee in support of district goals and operational needs.

ADA Requirements:

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community members.

• Ability to operate computers, district software, telephones, walkie-talkies, and standard office equipment.

• Ability to read, analyze, and maintain records, reports, and correspondence.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and move throughout classrooms, school buildings, playgrounds, and grounds for extended periods.

• Ability to sit on the floor and safely return to a standing position while interacting with young children.

• Ability to supervise preschool-aged students in classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, cafeterias, and other school settings.

• Ability to lift and/or move materials and students weighing up to 40 pounds as needed.

• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions during student supervision and dismissal procedures.

• Ability to perform filing, sorting, copying, and other clerical duties.

• Ability to attend meetings, trainings, and school-related events that may occasionally occur outside the regular workday.

Terms of Employment: Class II – Hours based on student needs. (As outlined in the current contract.) Compensation: Entrance Level: $13.52 Maximum Level: $15.82 Benefits and compensation are in accordance with the Paraprofessional Collective Bargaining Agreement.
