As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to our patients. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that patient needs are met effectively and holistically. You'll be joining a large team across the two GOSH Respiratory Wards (Leopard and Kangaroo), which focuses on children and young people requiring respiratory medicine acutely and chronically. It has 23 beds, including a high-dependency unit (HDU), dedicated beds for children and young people with cystic fibrosis and transitional care beds for long term ventilated children and young people. You work will help maintain excellent patient outcomes and a positive, supportive ward culture.

Main duties of the job
To provide the highest standard of nursing care for the children, young people and their families at all times To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children and to supervise other staff in this activity To ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children, young people and their families To act as an advocate for the child, young person and family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate To supervise and support members of the ward team as required, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate care To ensure that treatments prescribed by the medical staff are carried out, and that multidisciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patient's condition. To actively assist in the education and practical training of learners and junior staff at every opportunity. To work in co-operation with their university in order to provide uniformity and promotion of professional standards To maintain confidentiality surrounding the child's or young person's admission and treatment at all times To ensure that all patient care is documented, and that all relevant documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Trust approved documentation, in line with NMC, CQC and Trust standards.
