About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse to join our busy Emergency Department team at Frimley Park Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care. As a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in leading shifts, supporting colleagues, and helping to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate patient care, support patient flow, and maintain high standards of safety and quality. You will also act as a role model for junior staff, providing supervision, guidance and support to help them develop their skills and confidence.

We are looking for someone with significant nursing experience, including experience within an Emergency Department setting. You should be able to make sound clinical decisions, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Nurse, you will:

Take charge of either the whole Emergency Department (with support from the Manager) or an allocated area of the department. Run your area with minimal supervision, maintaining patient flow and ensuring a safe, effective environment. Plan early for safe patient discharge and manage the overall safety of your area. Support and mentor junior staff, acting as a role model and resource.Serve as a link Nurse, assisting the Team Leader in managing team members. Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to operational decision-making and team building. Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patients' care needs to ensure high-quality outcomes.
