Job summary
Working within the Specialist Nurse Led Children's Continence Service, coordinating medical, psychology, nursing and administrative colleagues, to provide tertiary level care in Children's Continence.
Working across boundaries and with all levels of health professionals and agencies ensure integrated care for children with continence difficulties influencing care management pathways based on best practice.

Main duties of the job
To support the Lead Nurse in the ongoing operational management of the Bladder and Bowel service within the Child Development Centre. In conjunction with the Lead Nurse ensure the continued provision of high quality care to all children through staff education, governance and professional development. To act as an expert in Paediatric continence, co-ordinating care pathways and developing the service to meet national guidelines and standards. To co-ordinate the multi-professional approach in the provision care for children who have continence difficulties. Facilitate transition from hospital to home, school and into adult services.

Job description Job responsibilities
Ensuring the efficient and effective provision of care, advice, education and support to children and families in their own home or other community settings. Assist the Lead Nurse for Community Paediatrics with future service development by identifying service need, evaluating priorities, service analysis. Ensure the effective use of resources within the Continence Service. Undertake project management as agreed with Lead Nurse for Community Paediatrics and the Service Line Manager Contribute to the co-ordination, collation and analysis of health data regarding children and young people within the CDC. Responsibility for the line management of staff within the Continence service. Implement and facilitate the appraisal system in line with the knowledge and skills framework Co-ordinate annual leave requests for continence team staff, making provision for cover in times of absence in accordance with trust guidelines and ensuring that the current service provision is maintained. Management of staff sickness within the team and escalating any concerns in line with trust policy. Initiate and participate in the recruitment process within HR and recruitment guidelines
