About this role

Job summary Band 5 Staff Nurse (Endocrinology - Diabetes Clinic) This is a part-time post for 20 hours per week. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot offer visa sponsorship for this part-time post. Working Pattern: The role requires working 08:00 to 17:00 and these hours are non-negotiable to meet service requirements. However, there is flexibility regarding the days worked, which can be agreed to support both service needs and work-life balance.

The post holder will provide high-quality nursing care to patients attending Diabetes and Endocrinology outpatient services. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the nurse will support the assessment, treatment, monitoring and education of patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based and patient-centred care across a range of specialist outpatient clinics including diabetes, endocrinology, diabetes technology, young adults, renal diabetes, antenatal diabetes and virtual services.

The role will support service improvement, patient education, clinical governance and the delivery of the Trust's CARE values.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

1. Deliver safe, effective, compassionate nursing care within outpatient clinic settings. . Undertake nursing assessments and observations appropriate to the patient's condition. Assist consultants, specialist nurses and allied health professionals during outpatient clinics.

2. Provide nursing support within diabetes, endocrinology and specialist nurse-led clinics.

3. Recognise and escalate concerns regarding deteriorating patients.

4. Support patients undergoing endocrine investigations and diagnostic procedures.

5. Perform venepuncture, capillary blood glucose monitoring and other agreed clinical skills.

6. Maintain accurate and timely electronic patient records.

7. Support the management of patients receiving insulin therapy and other specialist endocrine treatments under supervision.

8. Participate in virtual clinics and telephone follow-up services as required.

9. Manage clinic flow to ensure patients are seen efficiently and safely.

Education and Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse - part 1 Current NMC registration Evidence of recent continuous professional development A

Experience Essential

Experience (through placement or employment ) of working in an acute clinical environment

Experience in speciality may be an advantage

Skills and Knowledge Essential
