Job summary
Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative (MBPCC) delivers the Enhanced Access service on behalf of six Primary Care Networks across Morecambe Bay.
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Locum GPs to join our GP Bank, providing high-quality primary care services during evening and weekend appointments. Clinicians will work across our Enhanced Access sites and remotely, delivering safe, effective, patient centred care.
The role offers flexibility and the opportunity to support local patients through a collaborative model with full access to integrated patient records via EMIS.
Main duties of the job
Provide high-quality primary care consultations within Enhanced Access appointments.
Assess, diagnose, manage and treat patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions.
Prescribe medications safely and appropriately within GMC and national prescribing guidance.
Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
Undertake face to face and remote consultations as required.
Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using EMIS.
Escalate safeguarding concerns in accordance with local and national policies.
Work within professional competence and seek advice where appropriate.
Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities where required.

Salary
Weekday evening rate: £88.76 per hour
Saturday rate: £106.51 per hour
Contract Type Zero Hours Bank - Locum
Hours of Work
Flexible sessions available:
Monday to Friday: 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
GPs may undertake:
Ad hoc shifts based on availability
Regular recurring sessions
Face to face clinics
Remote consultations

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities

Record Keeping
Maintain accurate electronic clinical records.
Ensure all consultations are coded appropriately.
Complete referral letters, fit notes, prescriptions and associated documentation in a timely manner.
Information Governance
Adhere to GDPR, confidentiality and information governance policies.
Ensure secure handling of patient information.
Maintain the security of remote working arrangements and equipment.
Professional Responsibilities
Maintain GMC registration and licence to practise.
Comply with revalidation requirements.
Maintain appropriate professional indemnity.
Undertake mandatory and statutory training.
Work in accordance with NHS, local and organisational policies.

Remote Working Requirements
Where undertaking remote consultations, clinicians must:
Have access to a suitable private working environment.
Have a reliable internet connection.
Have access to a laptop or device capable of securely accessing EMIS.
Adhere to all data protection and information governance requirements.
Use cloud-based telephony to ensure all calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
Person Specification
Compliance requirements Essential
Up to date DBS clearance. Appropriate professional indemnity cover. Evidence of mandatory training compliance. Up to date safeguarding training (Adults and Children). Up to date immunisation status in line with NHS requirements. Evidence of appraisal and revalidation where applicable.

Desirable

Knowledge & Skills Essential
Excellent clinical assessment and decision making skills. Good understanding of NHS primary care pathways. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Competent IT skills.
Qualifications Essential
Qualified Medical Practitioner with MBBS or equivalent. GMC registered with Licence to Practise. Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List. Independent Prescriber.
Experience Essential
Previous experience working as a GP in UK General Practice. Experience using EMIS Web. Experience undertaking both face to face and telephone, video consultations. Experience managing a broad range of primary care presentations. Experience of safe prescribing within primary care.
