Main duties of the job
Provision of expert, high-quality, patient-centred clinical pharmacy services to haematology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. Note this service is predominantly the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) within haematology. Undertaking the role of an independent prescriber. Support the introduction of new and emerging treatments. Support trust medicines optimisation and medicines governance priorities. Support effective management of high cost drugs. Provide specialist advice to medical, nursing and pharmacy teams on all aspects of haematology medicines as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Undertake the duties of an 'Authorised Pharmacist,' taking responsibility for the final release of aseptically prepared injectable medicines, ensuring full compliance with legal, safety and quality standards. Support the education, training and development of pharmacy trainees and other healthcare professionals. Lead on service improvements and contribute to audit and research activities as part of our drive to continuously improve care for our patients. You will also be required to support the pharmacy dispensary weekend and pharmacist emergency duty service as part of a rota.
About us The Trust's services are provided from three locations: o The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds. o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility. o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population. Qualifications Essential
Vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council Evidence of clinical pharmacy skills Evidence of ongoing continued professional development Completed first year of post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma or demonstrable equivalent NHS hospital experience
Desirable
Experience as an authorised pharmacist releasing aseptically prepared Systemic AntiCancer Treatment (SACT Experience with verification of Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT) prescriptions. Post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma Independent prescribing qualification
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Relevant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience. Delivery of clinical pharmacy services to a range of specialities
