Otter Trail Winery is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and hospitality-focused *Head Bartender* to join our team. Nestled in the heart of Langley, our winery offers guests a unique farm-to-table dining experience paired with exceptional wines and warm, welcoming service.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys engaging with guests, has a strong appreciation for food and wine, and takes pride in maintaining an organized, well-stocked, and high-performing bar operation while creating memorable guest experiences.
Responsibilities
* Provide professional, friendly, and attentive service to guests. * Make and serve wine, beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages responsibly. * Demonstrate knowledge of winery offerings, wine styles, food menus, and specials. * Make recommendations and confidently answer guest questions regarding wine and food pairings. * Process guest orders accurately using the POS system. * Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and service areas. * Oversee the daily operation of the bar to ensure efficient, consistent, and high-quality service. * Manage bar inventory through regular stock counts and inventory tracking. * Place beverage and bar supply orders, ensuring adequate inventory levels for daily restaurant service, weddings, and special events. * Ensure the bar is fully stocked, organized, and service-ready before each shift and event. * Monitor product quality, minimize waste, and maintain proper storage of all bar products. * Assist with training, coaching, and supporting bartenders to maintain consistent service standards. * Assist with winery events, weddings, and private functions as required. * Follow all food safety and liquor service regulations. * Work collaboratively with kitchen, bar, management, and event teams to ensure an exceptional guest experience. * Support weddings, corporate events, private functions, and winery events, including setup, service, bartending, and guest assistance as required.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a restaurant, winery, brewery, cocktail bar, or similar hospitality environment. * Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a bar or restaurant environment is considered a strong asset. * Previous winery or wine-focused restaurant experience is considered an asset. * Experience with inventory management, stock control, and placing orders is required. * General wine knowledge and an interest in learning more about wine production and service. * Valid Serving It Right certification. * Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. * Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. * Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. * Positive attitude, professional appearance, and strong work ethic. * Availability to work weekends is required, as the role includes regular participation in weddings, special events, and private functions throughout the season. * Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
