Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Conduct specimen collection. Ensure infection control. Monitor nutritional intake. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Area of specialization: Geriatrics.
