What the role is Systems Adminstrator<br> Working Hours 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday, <br> Contract Type Permanent, <br> Location Lytham <br> <strong>About the Role</strong><br>Danbro is looking for an IT Systems Administrator to join our IT team, helping to support, maintain and develop the technology used across the Danbro Group.<br>This is a varied, hands-on role with exposure across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking, virtualisation, endpoint management, security and user support.<br>We’re looking for someone who already has a good grounding in IT and wants to build on it. You may have developed your experience through a support or systems role and now be looking for an opportunity to get more involved with infrastructure, networking and the wider technology environment.<br>You’ll work closely with the Head of IT, taking ownership of day-to-day technical issues as well as contributing to system maintenance, infrastructure improvements and IT projects.<br>For the right person, there is plenty of scope to learn, develop and take on greater technical responsibility over time.<br> <br><strong>What You'll Be Doing</strong><br><strong> </strong><br><strong>Systems &amp; Infrastructure</strong><br><ul><li>Support and maintain the company’s Windows-based systems and infrastructure.</li><li>Assist with the administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments.</li><li>Work with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, permissions and user accounts.</li><li>Support Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online administration.</li><li>Monitor systems and help investigate performance, availability and technical issues.</li><li>Assist with system upgrades, patching and planned maintenance.</li><li>Support virtual server environments using VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.</li><li>Get involved in infrastructure upgrades, migrations and wider IT projects.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Networking</strong><br>Networking is an important part of the role, so we’re looking for someone with a good understanding of how networks work and the confidence to troubleshoot connectivity issues.<br>You’ll:<br><ul><li>Support and troubleshoot wired, wireless and internet connectivity.</li><li>Work with LAN, WAN, VPN, TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS.</li><li>Assist with switches, wireless access points and firewall infrastructure.</li><li>Troubleshoot VPN and remote-access issues.</li><li>Help maintain and improve network documentation.</li><li>Work alongside colleagues and suppliers on more complex network issues and changes.</li></ul>Experience with Cisco Meraki would be particularly useful, but isn’t essential if you have a good networking foundation and are keen to learn.<br><strong> </strong><br><strong>Microsoft 365 &amp; Endpoint Management</strong><br><ul><li>Administer Microsoft 365 users, groups, licences and permissions.</li><li>Support Outlook, Teams, Exchange Online and other Microsoft 365 services.</li><li>Configure and deploy Windows laptops and desktops.</li><li>Assist with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.</li><li>Support application deployment, device configuration, patching and compliance.</li><li>Troubleshoot Windows and endpoint-related issues.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Security, Backup &amp; Maintenance</strong><br><ul><li>Assist with security monitoring and the investigation of alerts.</li><li>Support patching and vulnerability remediation.</li><li>Help maintain endpoint protection and security controls.</li><li>Monitor backup jobs and investigate failures.</li><li>Assist with system recovery and disaster recovery testing.</li><li>Follow IT security policies and contribute ideas for improving the security and resilience of the environment.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>User &amp; Technical Support</strong><br><ul><li>Provide technical support to colleagues across the Danbro Group.</li><li>Investigate and resolve hardware, software, Microsoft 365, account and connectivity issues.</li><li>Take ownership of support requests through to resolution or appropriate escalation.</li><li>Set up users, devices, permissions and access.</li><li>Support joiners, movers and leavers.</li><li>Help colleagues get the best from the technology they use day to day.</li><li>Identify recurring problems and look for opportunities to fix the underlying cause.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Documentation &amp; What matters is that you understand the fundamentals, enjoy solving problems and are motivated to learn.<br>Ideally, you’ll have around 1–3 years of relevant IT experience and some hands-on exposure to a Microsoft-based business environment.<br><strong> </strong><br><strong>We'd Like You to Have</strong><br><ul><li>Good knowledge of Windows 11.</li><li>Experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365.</li><li>Experience with Active Directory and user administration.</li><li>A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.</li><li>Confidence troubleshooting hardware, software and connectivity problems.</li><li>Experience supporting business users and resolving technical issues.</li><li>A logical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.</li><li>Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.</li><li>The confidence to investigate a problem and try to understand the cause.</li><li>A willingness to ask questions, learn and develop your technical knowledge.</li><li>The motivation to take ownership and see tasks through.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Useful Experience</strong><br>You don’t need experience in all of these, but exposure to any of the following would be an advantage:<br><ul><li>Windows Server.</li><li>VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.</li><li>Cisco Meraki networking.</li><li>Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.</li><li>Exchange Online.</li><li>Switches, wireless networks and firewalls.</li><li>Backup and recovery systems.</li><li>IT security and patch management.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>The Person We're Looking For</strong><br>Technical knowledge matters, but so does attitude.<br>We’re particularly interested in someone who is curious about technology and wants to understand how things work, rather than simply following a set of instructions.<br>You’ll enjoy troubleshooting, be willing to investigate unfamiliar problems and be keen to broaden your experience across different areas of IT.<br>We'd expect you to be comfortable supporting users, but also interested in what sits behind their devices – the servers, networks, cloud services and infrastructure that keep the business running.<br>You’ll be someone who takes ownership, learns from the people around them and wants their level of responsibility to grow as their technical ability develops.
