Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust for a Treasury Officer Apprentice to join our Financial Services team.

We are a driven and motivated team passionate about the development of our finance team. We have professional accreditation with ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA and AAT as well as holding level 3 Future Focused Finance accreditation and offer support for further training and professional development.

We are seeking an ambitious individual who is reliable and flexible and can contribute to the finance team.

The successful candidates will gain skills and experience within the Financial Services Department, whilst studying towards level 4 AAT.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in a career in Finance. The individual is expected to have completed level 3 AAT or have sufficient experience to commence level 4 AAT.

The position will be office based with the potential for some working from home and offers the benefits of flexible working

Main duties of the job

As a Treasury Officer Apprentice you will be gaining all the skills and experience from Financial Services while studying for the AAT qualification.

The post holder will be part of a wider Treasury team dealing with bank and cash related tasks for the Trust and its subsidiaries. This will involve daily review of bank balance and statements, cashbook and bank reconciliations, transacting payments through the bank, dealing with incoming queries amongst other tasks.

The successful candidates will form part of our friendly, Can Do attitude team. The role will play an important part in helping the Trust and its Subsidiaries maintain a successful Treasury department and also be involved in successfully implementing new progressive ways of working

The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels as well as good organisational skills and a real commitment to providing an excellent service delivery. They must be capable of working to tight deadlines, prioritise workloads and to work on their own initiative as well as under supervision.

The candidate will possess good Excel spreadsheet skills.

Experience Essential

Experience in a fast-paced Finance Office environment Knowledge of Daily Cashbook regimes Experience of numerical reconciliations Experience with Excel based reconciliations

Desirable

Experience in Finance within the NHS Experience of Treasury Management within the NHS Experience of the Government Banking Service Experience within Customer Care

Qualifications Essential

GCSE Maths and English grade c/4 or above, or level 2 equivalent in the same subjects. Level 3 AAT or sufficient experience to enable completion of level 4 AAT apprenticeship

Skills and knowledge Essential

Extensive experience / knowledge of spreadsheet, database and computerised ledger applications Good understanding of online Banking Good analytical skills, including the interpretation of complex data for management information
