About this role

Job summary

In an exciting opportunity we are pleased to be in a position to expand our workforce and are seeking to recruit a number of childrens wellbeing practitioners/Children, Young Peoples Mental Health Practitioners (CYPMH) to join or mental health service in Sunderland. This involves individuals who have the ability to assist in delivering low intensity, and or evidence-based interventions for children, young people and their families who present with a variety of mental health difficulties.

Within this service model, the team is made up of a range of (CYPMH) practitioners. Training is at the forefront of our ethos, and progression is something our services have an exceptional reputation in. This multi-disciplinary team will deliver a range of interventions that support the identification of mental health needs at the earliest stage, while enabling access to services that build resilience and promote positive mental wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

We expect the post holder to possess sound children and young peoples mental health knowledge and skills. You will have the aptitude, motivation and enthusiasm for working within a pioneering service. Candidates will:

To work as a member of the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust providing a Getting Help mental health service to children and young people.

This includes the direct provision of evidence-based interventions and outcome focused standards of care to children and families/carers.

The delivery of high quality training, consultation, and support to other staff.

The service will be delivered from Community bases as an integral part of an agreed iTHRIVE multi-agency model of Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service provision.

This will be achieved by:

Listening to and understanding the community.Bringing people together to develop a shared local vision with service users as equal partners.Assessing community assets, resources, needs and issues.Empowering community members to identify local issues and articulate solutions.Linking in with Community Mental Health Services (i.e. CYPS, IAPT, CTT).The post holder will ensure they uphold our Trust vision, values and behaviours.To promote at all times a positive image of children and young people with mental health conditions.To promote at all times a positive image of the specialist service area and the wider Trust.

Person Specification

Physical Skills Essential

Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. Ability to manage own time and diary and meet requirements and demands of work within the service. Ability to sit, stand, and walk as required across the full duration of the working day. The ability to, on occasion, move and handle objects in line with Trust guidelines using appropriate aids. The ability to work flexibly, sometimes working additional or unsocial hours, as necessary to meet the needs of the service and ensure a complete understanding is had in relation to care delivery. Qualifications Essential

Qualified Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner (Post Graduate Diploma) or Core Professional qualification. Registration with a relevant and appropriate governing body, i.e. BABCP(British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists), BPS(British Psychological Society) as a Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner, (or working towards registration and successfully registered within the first six months of appointment); or Nursing, Teaching (with qualified teacher status) Social Worker, Allied Health Professional registrant with a willingness to undertake further training specific to the role.

Desirable

Additional post graduate qualification in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health, therapeutic training or other relevant area. Recognised supervision certificate.

Experience Essential

Experience of delivering low intensity psychological interventions to support the mental health needs of children, young people and families. Experience of working within a community or education context. Experience of working to safeguard and promote welfare in children.

Desirable

Experience of multi disciplinary team working. Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-agency context. Experience of teaching or delivering training Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place that demonstrate clinical outcome Experience of delivering caseload management/clinical supervision Experience of working within a Getting Help/Getting More Help CYPMHS

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Ability to carry out clinical and risk assessments with children, young people and their families Knowledge of universal and specialist childrens mental health service provision. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other associated IT packages. Proven organisational skills Proven time and caseload management skills Able to write clear reports and letters. Demonstrates a high standard in both written and oral communication. Ability to engage vulnerable and underserved populations. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work flexibly in a variety of environments. Ability to work under supervision and make good use of the supervisory process for personal and clinical development. Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how this may present in children and young people. Demonstrates an understanding of the need for evidence based psychological therapies. An understanding of the mental health needs of children, young people and their families. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of safeguarding and the promotion of welfare in children. Ability to work autonomously, with supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent time and caseload management.

Desirable

Knowledge of relevant legislation guidance and good practice. Working knowledge of child development and its application to mental health
