About this role

Job summary

The Administration Assistant will carry out a range of administrative duties as required within the Health Records Department at Velindre Cancer Centre.

By the nature of the duties, the post holder will be required to maintain strict confidentiality.

The post holder will be expected to deal with staff, patients, carers and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.

Main duties of the job

The individual will play a key role in delivering a high quality service at Velindre Cancer Centre.

The post holder will form part of a team providing a comprehensive administration service including registration and scheduling forpatient's appointments and treatments.

Administrative tasks associated with managing Health Records Library.

Using self management to manage and prioritise time and workload, working primarily independently and on own initiative with minimalsupervision to carry out the duties of the post working closely and communicating effectively and working closely with the othermembers of clinical and administrative teams.

Being able to organise workload without supervision, adapting daily work plan to meet rapidly changing priorities where the workload is unpredictable.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

NVQ Level 3 level standard of qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience Advanced keyboard skills

Desirable

Good knowledge of outpatient pathways and activity classification Knowledge of WPAS Welsh Patient Administration System Knowledge of WCP Welsh Clinical Portal Knowledge of the NHS Wales Data Dictionary

Experience Essential

Excellent knowledge of the patient pathway acquired through experience Experience of NHS Wales Patient Administration Systems Knowledge of Data Protection/Confidentiality Excellent knowledge of the full range of data quality, activity management, standards and procedures Previous outpatient appointment management experience Experience of working in a hospital environment or NHS organisation Proven interpersonal and communication skills Excellent telephone manner Customer care skills
